“Translocations” was written in Matlab 6.0, a program for mathematical computing and visualization of data. The primary idea was to write a lot of different filters that will produce transformations of digital images. The artwork consisted of a user’s input, the results (digital prints) and the software.
The first filter I wrote would take all horizontal or vertical lines, relocate them and generate a new image. I used pictures of Californian’s desert landscapes to get some digitally coloured patterns. The software is written to be an open sourced, so users would be able to make their own images and have them in their homes. The results that I got with this software remind a lot visually and conceptually on my paintings and drawings from earlier periods in my development.
